Position Overview

Hands-on supervision of chemical operators in assigned work area and assign work to chemical operators, as necessary.


Essential Job Functions

  • Must be a Senior Chemical Mixer and have the ability to perform all Senior Chemical Mixer responsibilities
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of production
  • Coordinates resolution of equipment and/or quality issues with Department Manager, Maintenance Manager, and/or Plant Manager
  • Delivers results through continuous process improvements and recognizes problems as opportunities for improvement
  • Cross train personnel
  • Has a good understanding of and enforces cGMP
  • Ensures compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, company policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the company’s safety policies and procedures and actively collaborates with direct reports and colleagues to continuously improve the execution of these policies and procedures in an effort to achieve a zero-injury culture
  • Maintains a clean well-organized facility
  • Engages his or her team to operate equipment at or above standard in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Ensures the availability of materials needed to complete production requirements
  • Maintains good, clear open communication between other shift management teams




  • All materials must be safely secured to skids when moved
  • Use proper PPE when handling chemicals. Safety glasses must be worn at all times
  • Follow all site-specific safety protocols



  • Minimum 5 years’ experience mixing and blending of chemicals and monitoring batches.  Understands the manufacturing process and has the technical knowledge to ensure product quality and flow.
  • Has the technical and mechanical knowledge / ability to trouble shoot process operations equipment
  • Able to work with minimal to no supervision and has the ability to make quick decisive decisions
  • Organized, self-directed and have the ability to work independently/without supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – clearly communicate information to management and co-workers
  • Ability to understand and follow written instructions regarding recipes
  • Ability to read batch cards and record all required information, both written and electronically within the ACCESS and AX database systems
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability
  • Knowledge and practice of GMP, FDA and Environmental, Health and Safety regulations
  • Current or previous OSHA compliance certifications – PPE, LO/TO, HazMat Handling / Storage, Confined Space, Forklift, etc…

Physical Demands and Environment

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Physical Demands:

    Employee is required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend; kneel and climb; and lift/move up to 50 lbs.  on a daily basis. In addition, must be able to maneuver and move 30 to 55-gallon drums or up to 500 pounds utilizing the proper drum material handling equipment provided.


Work Environment: This position requires one to work in a manufacturing facility. There is a moderate level of noise, heat, cold, dust, and dirt. Employee frequently works near moving mechanical equipment and chemicals and will be exposed to varying temperatures.
