Scientist (Research & Development) – OTC/Hygiene


Essential Job Functions

  • Perform quality control testing on raw materials, intermediates and finished products. Issue adjustments, approvals and rejections as needed
  • Assist in the maintenance of KRP quality system and associated documentation, including but not limited to batch cards, QCAs, COAs and retains
  • Assist in the development of product specifications
  • Provide customers with input on selecting appropriate materials
  • Develop products to meet customer needs
  • Participate in internal and external audits
  • As needed, directly interface with suppliers, sales staff and customers as part of the product development process
  • Produce customer specialty samples, as necessary
  • Assist in the training of new laboratory personnel
  • Participate in the general upkeep of the QC/ R&D laboratory facility
  • Work safely with hazardous chemicals and waste
  • Operate and maintain analytical equipment
  • Complete special assignments, as required
  • Create new Protocols and ensure proper training to execute
  • Create new Test Methods and ensure proper training to execute
  • Provide support to Production, QC, QA, etc. on scale up for new formulations and processes



  • 2-5 years’ experience in a laboratory atmosphere
  • Minimum 2 years hands-on Experience in GMP OTC/actives, emulsion, surfactant, suspension, etc. formulations, stability testing
  • Minimum 2 years experience in FDA and/or EPA regulations and registrations – familiar with government agency regulations for OTC and others drug manufacturing
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative-ability to work well with others

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office-especially Excel



  • A bachelor’s degree in a chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or pharmaceutical science related fields
