Scientist (Research & Development) – OTC/Hygiene
Essential Job Functions
- Perform quality control testing on raw materials, intermediates and finished products. Issue adjustments, approvals and rejections as needed
- Assist in the maintenance of KRP quality system and associated documentation, including but not limited to batch cards, QCAs, COAs and retains
- Assist in the development of product specifications
- Provide customers with input on selecting appropriate materials
- Develop products to meet customer needs
- Participate in internal and external audits
- As needed, directly interface with suppliers, sales staff and customers as part of the product development process
- Produce customer specialty samples, as necessary
- Assist in the training of new laboratory personnel
- Participate in the general upkeep of the QC/ R&D laboratory facility
- Work safely with hazardous chemicals and waste
- Operate and maintain analytical equipment
- Complete special assignments, as required
- Create new Protocols and ensure proper training to execute
- Create new Test Methods and ensure proper training to execute
- Provide support to Production, QC, QA, etc. on scale up for new formulations and processes
Qualifications
- 2-5 years’ experience in a laboratory atmosphere
- Minimum 2 years hands-on Experience in GMP OTC/actives, emulsion, surfactant, suspension, etc. formulations, stability testing
- Minimum 2 years experience in FDA and/or EPA regulations and registrations – familiar with government agency regulations for OTC and others drug manufacturing
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Collaborative-ability to work well with others
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office-especially Excel
Education/Certifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in a chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or pharmaceutical science related fields
